Postal Voting is available in certain circumstances.
Disabled Postal Voters List
If you have a physical illness or physical disability and you wish to vote by post from your home, you may apply to go on the Postal Voters List. You may only apply for entry on this List, if:
(i) you are unable to go in person to vote at your polling station due to physical illness or physical disability; and
(ii) the illness or disability is likely to continue for the duration (12 months from 15th February) of the Register to which the application relates.
PV1. must be completed and returned to Leitrim County Council in order to be included in the Disabled Postal Voters List.
Postal Voters List for electors unable to vote at their polling station due to circumstances of occupation/education:
If you are likely to be unable to go in person on polling day to vote at your polling station because of the circumstances of occupation, service or employment, you may apply for entry in the postal voters list.
An elector participating on a full time basis on an educational course of study at an educational institution in the State and who is likely to be unable to go in person on polling day to vote at his or her polling station, may also apply to be included in the postal voters list.
Application Form PV2 (English) Application Form PV2 (Irish) must be completed and returned to Leitrim County Council in order to be included in the Postal Voters List for Persons unable to vote due to Circumstances of Occupation/Education.
Prisoners unable to vote at their polling station due to circumstances of theirdetention in a prison pursuant to an order of a court:
Application Form RFG must be completed and returned to Leitrim County Council if you wish to apply for entry in the postal voters list if you are likely to be unable to go in person on polling day because of the circumstances of your detention in prison pursuant to an order of a court.
An Garda Síochána Postal Voters List:
A member of the Garda Síochána has the choice of being registered as a postal voter or as an ordinary voter
Form PV1. must be completed and returned to Leitrim County Council if you wish to be included in the Garda Síochána postal voters list.
All persons in receipt of a Postal Vote are denoted on the Register of Electors with an “ S ” beside their name. Such Voters may not vote in Person at a Polling Station.
